Phantoms by Firelight: Frankenstein Encounter

Old Sturbridge Village's 1830s streets go dark and firelit for its Halloween season — this year built around Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, with live performances, ghost stories and hands-on history after hours.

📅 When

Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, October 3–25, 2026, 4:30–9:00pm. Runs even in light rain.

📍 Where

Old Sturbridge Village, 1 Old Sturbridge Village Rd, Sturbridge, MA.

🎟️ Cost

At the door: $45 adult, $20 youth (ages 4–17); children 3 and under are free. Online pricing and member discounts are posted on OSV's own site — tickets are date-specific, and advance purchase is recommended since some nights sell out.

🧟 What's there

Fire-lit paths through the transformed 1830s Village, live performances themed around Shelley's Frankenstein, ghost stories by the bonfire, hands-on activities and games, plus food and seasonal drinks for purchase at the Bullard Tavern and Ox & Yoke Café.

⚠️ Good to know

OSV describes it as an immersive experience with theatrical fog, strobe and lighting effects, low-light areas, uneven flooring, tight passageways, loud sound effects and recreated scenes of conflict — there are no jump scares, but OSV recommends judging it by your own child's comfort level.

♿ Accessibility

ASL interpretation is available on Sunday, October 4.
