Greater Boston has excellent youth hockey and skating programs: Boston Junior Bruins development programs, Wellesley Skating Club, Skating Club of Boston (figure skating, world-class), Newton Hockey Association, Natick Youth Hockey, Valley Youth Hockey, and learn-to-skate programs at rinks across Newton, Wellesley, Natick, Needham, Framingham and more.
Most Greater Boston rinks offer learn-to-skate programs from age 3–4 (tot ice skating). Youth hockey typically starts around age 4–5 (Mite level). Figure skating programs through the Skating Club of Boston accept young children from age 3–4 for beginner ice dance and pre-preliminary skating.
