The well-known Singapore-math program is now running in-person classes in Newton Centre, at 825 Beacon St, Suite 12, with Saturday sessions 9 AM–12 PM. Singapore math is the curriculum designed by Singapore’s Ministry of Education — it drew international attention when Singapore’s students topped the TIMSS and PISA rankings in the 1990s — and is built on the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract progression, with strong emphasis on visualization, modeling, early algebraic thinking and challenging problem-solving tasks. The school was founded by Singaporean teacher Kar Hwee Koh, and all teachers are chosen for professional teaching experience and trained in Singapore math pedagogy. Classes stay small.
