Greater Boston is outstanding for junior rowing. Programs include Community Rowing Inc. on the Charles River (largest public rowing center in the US), Riverside Boat Club, Belmont Hill School crew, and club teams at high schools throughout Newton, Wellesley, Needham and the North Shore.
Most youth rowing programs in Greater Boston accept beginners from age 12–13 (middle school). Community Rowing Inc. offers summer youth programs starting at age 10. Some programs accept younger children for intro sessions.
