Greater Boston offers extensive children's language programs: Spanish (multiple community centers, private tutors), French (Alliance Française Boston, private teachers), Mandarin Chinese (weekend schools, heritage programs, immersion classes), Russian (Alma Mater Studio, Znayka), and heritage language programs across Newton, Wellesley, Lexington and Cambridge.
Research shows the best time to start a second language is as young as possible — ideally before age 5–6. Many Greater Boston programs accept children from age 2–3 for immersive language play. Structured language classes with reading and writing usually start around age 5–6.
