Club Book & Joy runs online book clubs for grades 1–6 in small groups. Each week clubbers read a chunk of a real novel — classics and award winners rather than worksheets — then come to class with fact-checking and discussion questions, take a side on a debating topic, and turn in a short writing assignment. Grades 3–6 add a weekly news-reading piece, and parents get a monthly progress report on their child's reading development.

It is a good fit for a strong reader who is bored by the reading log, or a capable kid who freezes when asked to defend an opinion out loud. Group sizes are small and slots are grade-banded (G1–2, G3–4 A/B, G5–6), so the discussion sits at the right level. Sessions run in 8-week terms on Zoom, weekday evenings and Sunday afternoons — the popular times sell out, so check the live class list.

  • Teachers are named on each class listing, so you can pick a time and a teacher.
