Yes — the Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn Harbor (with a 145-acre sculpture park), the Heckscher in Huntington, the Katonah Museum's Learning Center and the Neuberger at SUNY Purchase all run family workshops and drop-in art-making.
Most do. December and February break are the two big weeks — the Science Museum of Long Island, Long Island Children's Museum and Cradle of Aviation all add programming. Book ahead; break weeks are the busiest days of the museum year.
Museum programmes are only half of it — see camps and holiday events too.
