A working farm that is free and open sunrise to sunset, with a 4-H Club for ages 8–18, Saturday animal care, and a Leader-in-Training summer for 14–16s.

This is the animal option. On select school-year Saturdays, teen volunteers wake and feed the animals first, then move on to compost, weeding and harvest — real morning chores in the real order a farmer does them. The 4-H Club takes ages 8–18, which is a wider span than most structured programs.
Two age rules worth knowing before you plan: the Leader-in-Training summer program is for ages 14–16, and solo chore shifts are 18 and over — younger children volunteer within a program or alongside an adult. The farm itself is free and open from sunrise to sunset, so you can walk it first and see whether your child takes to the animals.
